The Electro-Harmonix Blurst Modulated Filter Guitar/Bass Pedal is modelled on modulation effects more commonly found on keyboards and in digital and analogue synthesis. Signals running through the Blurst are subjected to modulation via an envelope filter, with the effect being controlled by an internal oscillator. This produces some very interesting and unique sounds, not often associated with electric string instruments.
On the face of the pedal are five rotary knobs to adjust Volume, Blend, Resonance, Rate and Range of the effect. The Blurst also has three selectable waveshapes – Triangle, Rising Saw-Tooth and Falling Saw-Tooth. Employed in a chain with other effect pedals allows the Blurst to produce some very desirable effects as it first embellishes and then dominates the original effect, and it works exceptionally well with an expression pedal.
