I was in the 1997 Vestax Champs and the 1998 Technics DMC Champs. I have had a few mixers over the last 28 years, the Technics Champ one, Vestax PMC 08 pro, and an Ecler Hac, also being one of them. This is very reminicent of that mixer. Strong mixer! It has flat sides so you can get it close to your turntables. It has no extra digital widgets! If you are not a button Dj and you can scratch or want to learn to scratch for real, then this is a great mixer! With your decks sideways, your workspace is nice and tight for the quick moves. It has all the curve adjusters required and the standard cross fader is awesome. It holds the better magnetic one if you want to upgrade, it is around £155 from DV247. When I destroy this fader I will try one of the upgrades, but this fader works perfectly. How long it survives is up to how much I hammer it! It is a quality mixer and I would recommend it to learners and professionals. I have had it a few weeks and the fader is stil perfect. I destroyed the Technics ones very quick, my record is 11 minutes lol. I had a guy solder new faders onto old circuit boards to save me cash lol - Back in the day! Luckily there are still mixers like this around, I searched around to see what was available that would be tough enough for the job without all the digital toys! The Rane ones are all the rage but at that price you are only paying for flashing lights, widgets and digital tech. If you want to learn the skill of turntablism without the digital trickery and focus on building your skills, then this is about the only option you have left on the market! Great mixer, good price, hard build quality. To be a fair critic of this product I will mention any low points as well. My only other point would be that the silver buttons and nobs could have a better feel to them, the 16 dark grey faders and other dark grey rotary swithches are really lovely, those 12 silver ones feel a bit cheap, other than that it all works well and I like it alot. It was obviously a design choice for looks and to save a bit here and there but if they had used the same dark grey all over it would feel better. You could replace 3 if you where inclined. That being a small point, I like it between my SL1200 mk2 and that's how it will stay, Serato free! I have a Serato box I could plug in to use with my Mac Book Pro but I will get a Rane set up if I want to go down that road and sit them alongside, or in the back lol Real heads know! Thanks for reading my review I hope you found it useful. Peace and Love. Dj Vendetta - UK - The Sagas of K-Lash-Nek-Off - Tour DJ 2012-2015 - One Love
