Earthwork Audio's Ethos B is an XLR condenser broadcast microphone with supercardioid polar pattern and removable foam windscreen. Based on Earthworks' reputation for building microphones with presence and clarity, the Ethos goes a step further, offering an intimacy and warmth that matches the sound of any voice while anticipating the needs of the sound engineer.
In audio, our perception of what feels real and natural is extremely sensitive to temporal resolution. In particular, the detail of transient events (also called transients ) is responsible for much of our perception of content, meaning, and frequency balance. This includes defining attributes such as "timbre," "texture," and "airiness." The extremely short response time of the Earthworks microphone capsule at the heart of the Ethos ensures that every performance sounds like the real thing.
Ethos is equipped with a windscreen that raises the bar for plosive and wind noise protection. It is easy to clean or replace. The combination of foam, grille and steel makes it unlikely that additional protection will be needed, even for particularly dynamic voices.
The Ethos is inherently resistant to grip noise and shock thanks to internal damping and rugged stainless steel construction. The included Triad-Orbit M2-R ball-joint microphone adapter allows for precise placement and adjustment, and is ideal for pairing with a heavy microphone boom or tripod.
