The Eve Audio TS112 is a 12" Active Subwoofer offering a combination of both quality precision and power.
The TS112 by Eve Audio has detailed controls like switchable satellite filters (full range and 85Hz), phase switch controls (0°, 180°). and variable subwoofer filter frequencies (50....150Hz) to let you tailor and adjust your ThunderStorm to your specific room.
The TS112 is the smallest model in the range of EVE Audio subwoofers and features a very efficient 400W PWM amplifier that drives a proprietary 12" woofer. That guarantees a frequency response of 20 Hz (on the lower end), up to 150 Hz, for a maximum output power of 112dB (SPL @ 1m).
The included remote control will let you adjust not only the subwoofer's volume but also the complete stereo system's volume while sitting comfortably in your sweet spot.
All in all, the ThunderStorm subwoofers will make any system sound better and more complete.
The main characteristics of the Eve Audio TS112 include:
I've used the sub a fair bit before doing this review.I have a set of Eve SC307's which are a great mid priced speaker. They already have a decent bass response in my well treated but smallish mix room 4.5m X 3m.I had initially been using a BK electronics 12" sub which is a decent Home cinema sub but always wanted to get one of the Eve subs to complete the setup properly.
I use fuzz measure to analyze my room & speaker placement.Without any subwoofer I had a boost around 80hz which I could attenuate with the DSP on the SC307's but they would drop off around 50Hz so this is the area I wanted the TS 112 to really work at.When I first installed the 112 I immediately noticed a huge drop off in the low end. When I bypassed the sub the sound came alive again.Flipping the phase helped a bit but I was initially very unimpressed with what I heard.I spent the next week moving the sub painstakingly around the room and I mean it was everywhere including differing heights (which contrary to a lot of Youtube videos) did not make any difference. The oddest thing when looking at any measurements on Fuzz measure was the boost at 80hz was gone it was now a 6 to 12db dip depending on Sub placement. The subs final placement is against the back wall, off to the left facing away from me which means the remote control doesn't work and that is such a handy thing to have to operate the sub from your seated position. But the sound is alot better there and that's what matters.
In summary the room that you put this into and the placement is of utmost importance.Trust me you need a well treated room to make this work.Don't expect to plug it in & just sound good especially in a poorly treated room.If that's your case spend the money on treatment first.I also use Sonarworks & my final measurement has no correction more than 3 to 4 db from 34HZ upwards. If I toggle Sonarworks on/off the difference isn't that big.I've done a few mixes since installing the sub that seem to translate well for clients some have pointed out the low end has become bigger with more control which was the end goal when buying it.But I will admit at some points during setup I did contemplate sending it back.
