A P-style electric bass with classic construction and modernized feature set, the ESP LTD Surveyor-405 Maple See Thru Blue is the perfect 5-string for cultivated sounds of rock and metal.
With its slim doublecut design made of solid swamp ash, the ESP LTD Surveyor-405 Maple See Thru Blue gives you that classic playing feel. Additional comfort while playing is promised by the usual slim Thin-U profile of the maple neck, which gives the sound additional attack with its bolt-on neck construction and 34" long scale.
To give the sound of the ESP LTD Surveyor-405 Maple See Thru Blue additional emphasis, ESP uses two active pickups from the US manufacturer EMG. In middle position the EMG 40P5 delivers full and juicy sounds, while an EMG MM5TW MM-style humbucker elicits aggressive but defined sounds from the bridge position. For further sound shaping there is a balance control, a coil split mini switch and a common 3-band equalizer on board.
The hardware setup follows the classic P-style setup and combines reliable functionality with a classic look. For example, the bass is equipped with a Wilkinson Licensed 5-String Bass Bridge with tabs for each string and five Open Gear tuners for accurate tuning results. All hardware parts of the ESP LTD Surveyor-405 Maple See Thru Blue have a uniform chrome finish.
A great bass at a bargain price. Taken from the box, it needed at bit of adjustment as the truss rod was to tight. The sound and volume adjustment requires a little getting used to and may be a bit of a challenge on stage. Besides that it sounds and feels great. The Wilkinson bridge is OK, but after a few adjustments, the screws may be annoying and harmful to your hand, it you rest it on the bridge => up for replacement with a Allparts Omega bridge, as it is high mass and gives a better sustain.
