The new Dark Energy II looks like the Dark Energy I, however some of the functions of the controls and switches differ from Dark Energy I. The biggest difference between the two models is the basic sound, which is due to the use of new circuits for VCO, VCF and VCA.

The Doepfer Dark Energy II is an analogue monophonic synthesizer, with a USB and MIDI interface. Incorporating a one knob per function setup, the Dark Energy II is a tactile synth with powerful features to let you really get inside the machine. Being semi-modular in nature, a whole host of different sounds can be achieved using plenty of sources to modulate different parameters using patch cables – just like its bigger modular brothers.
