The Daslight Virtual Controller 4 is the fourth generation of the popular software controller, especially in the club/DJ area. Daslight has always stood for clear and intuitive work - the many practical macros and effects of the software controller predestine it especially for "on the run" work with moving light, as it is required in clubs or at festival situations.
Since the fourth generation, Apple users can finally enjoy the uncomplicated plug'n play lighting solution from Daslight. Via XLR, the DVC interface is compatible with any DMX512 lighting equipment. In addition, several interfaces can be linked with each other (except DVC Fun), which makes it possible to start up several DMX universes. Internally, a large contingent of presets for various lighting equipment is already available - this makes patching very simple, as the individual DMX devices can be simply selected from a list by drag and drop and added to the show. All basic DMX connections are automated by the software. For fixtures that are not listed, however, there is also a well-designed editor that allows you to set up lamps via DMX cheat.
Once patched, the configured fixtures can be easily placed and selected in the arranger window. Clicking on the corresponding icons opens the corresponding windows for light control. A new feature is the possibility to work with "palettes", i.e. special presets, which was previously reserved for Sunlite Suite 2. Palettes are practically independent presets for functions or function groups that can be integrated into cues of shows. This can be very practical, especially on tour: If, for example, you want to change a special lighting position within a show because the encountered playing situation calls for a position change, and you have stored the special position as a palette, the change within the palette automatically affects all cues in which the position was used.
This is an indispensable feature, especially in professional touring, where a show has to be quickly adapted to other stage situations. New in version 4 is also a comfortable 3D visualization. Here, lighting setup and lighting positions can now also be viewed and conditioned in a virtual room. This makes programming light fun!
Particularly interesting in the DVC concept have always been its extensive effects, which have now been significantly expanded in the fourth generation. The so-called "XEEL Effect Engine" already offers hundreds of different macros including various chases, video effects for LED panels, movements for moving heads and scanners, as well as various curves (waveforms) that can be routed to individual parameters or groups. With the help of these effects, motion sequences, color changes and complete lively lightshows can be created directly and varied in real time, extremely spontaneously and without much "step by step" typing.
The user interface of the software is just as practical and oriented towards live operation - because, as Daslight also stands for, both show mode and arranger mode can be displayed completely, clearly and without loss on a single full HD screen. In addition, buttons and controls for color wheels, pan/tilt control, lamp selection, etc. are also designed for touchscreen control. With the control app for Android and iOS devices, which is available free of charge, essential functions of the software can also be remotely controlled via smartphone or tablet. A practical feature - especially when lighting up!
I was looking for a low cost solution to control dmx lighting at work, as well as on the road with a couple of bands I am doing Lights and Backline for and found this is the perfect solution to generate a whole Lightshow and customize it the way you want it! All of the features are accessible very quick and with ease!
Combined with a Multitouch screen and the free iPad remote, it's an awesome tool! I can simply recommend it to everyone looking for an easy and affordable Lighting Control solution!
