With the Darkglass Vintage Ultra V2 the Finnish bass specialists present a revised version of their preamp pedal, which enjoys great popularity as a supplier for the optimal vintage sound. Accordingly, the pedal delivers a surprising amplifier-like sound that is as clean as it is distorted as the best tube stacks and can be adjusted via an elaborate tone control. In addition, a headphone connection and a balanced direct out with switchable loudspeaker simulation are on board.
Fat clean sound and rich overdrive
The Darkglass Vintage Ultra delivers a massive clean sound, whose organic dynamics and harmonic richness bring the bass signal to life and bring clear associations to a high-voltage tube circuit. In addition, the preamplifier offers a separately switchable overdrive unit that covers the spectrum between greasing overdrive and rich distortion. The"Drive" control can be used to determine the intensity of the distortion, while"Blend" adds the clean signal in order to obtain pressure and definition.
Versatile tone control
Using the 4-band tone control, the sound of the Darkglass Electronics Vintage Ultra can be precisely adjusted, whereby the semi-parametric midbands allow a significant influence on the character-forming frequencies. In addition, two typical dark glass switches, "Grunt" and "Attack", are available. While Grunt determines the saturated bass components in the signal, Attack can be used to give the signal more presence or to take away sharpness, depending on the other equipment used.
Headphone jack and direct out with speaker simulation
The Darkglass Vintage Ultra V2 also provides a balanced direct out for direct pickup of the bass signal on stage or in the recording studio, while the headphone connection allows silent practice. Thanks to the switchable loudspeaker simulation based on impulse responses, a particularly natural sound is available.
