The Colosseum is a dual overdrive from Cornerstone and represents a reinterpretation of the Blues Breaker and Klon circuits. With the Colosseum, the Italian family business has developed a powerful overdrive pedal with some great features - both overdrives can also be integrated into an effects chain or amp loop independently of each other via an effects loop. As a dual overdrive, the heart of the Colosseum consists of two different circuits: On the one hand, the right side was modelled after the legendary Blues Breaker, while the left circuit is based on the popular Klon Centaur overdrive.
While both sides of the Colosseum have the conventional volume, tone and gain controls, Cornerstone has given each circuit an additional control: the clean control allows the clean signal to be mixed into the BB circuit as desired, creating a great deal of sound flexibility. The left-hand K circuit in turn has its own clip control, which can be used to control or mix the clipping behavior of a silicon and a germanium diode. This allows unique overdrive sounds to be individually adjusted and modified according to personal taste. Furthermore, the Colosseum comes with a separate effects loop for both overdrives, allowing both effects to be integrated into the effects chain of a pedalboard or amp independently of each other. In addition, a central toggle switch can be used to determine the internal order of both circuits (K-BB or BB-K). All in all, the Colosseum offers flexible setting features and its effects loop provides plenty of convenience on the pedalboard.
