The Clavia Nord Piano 5 with 73 keys at a glance.
The Clavia Nord Piano 5 features two piano engines, two sample synths, and twice as much memory as the previous Generation. Combining a high-quality triple-sensor keyboard with our exclusive Virtual Hammer Action Technology, the portable stage piano delivers an exceptional playing experience. The piano section's sound bank, which includes 9 grand pianos, 10 Ehanced Elecric Pianos, Clavinet, Digital Pianos and Marimba, can be layered with the sample synth section. The piano section has two independent piano engines that can be used simultaneously in layer, or Split configuration. A 2GB memory for the Nord Piano library and 1GB for Nord Sample Library provide enough space for new sounds.
Two independent pianos and sample synths.
The piano and sample synth sections of the Nord Piano 5 each contain two independent layers. The two pianos and two sample synths can be used simultaneously in a variety of split or layer configurations. Combined with the versatile effects routing, numerous combinations can be realized - from classic ensemble settings to lush soundscapes. The LED-equipped level controls allow for quick and precise adjustment of all layer volumes. A volume pedal and/or sustain pedal can be assigned to each Layer.
Virtual Hammer Action Technology
The unique Virtual Hammer Action Technology in the Clavia Nord Piano 5 combines with physical hammer movements to deliver outstanding authenticity and dynamic response. The result is a keyboard action that enables dynamic playing with amazing control at any velocity. The triple-sensor keyboard also offers authentic features such as repeating a note without lifting the key completely, ensuring the smooth repetitions and fluid transitions you'd expect from an acoustic grand piano.
Powerful new piano section
The Nord Piano 5 Factory bank includes 9 Grands, 9 Uprights, 10 Enhanced Electric Pianos, Clavinet, Digital Pianos, Marimba, Vibraphone and more from the exclusive Nord Piano Library - all carefully selected for their unique character! Nord's state-of-the-art sampling technology captures the exceptional nuances and true character of the source instruments.
Extensive effects section
The effects section offers a wide selection of instantly adjustable, high-quality stereo effects modeled after classic stomp boxes. An effect can be freely assigned to each layer in the Piano and Sample Synth sections.
Sample synth section with high-quality sounds
Two independent sample synths with greatly expanded memory.
The sample synth section contains a completely revamped selection of high-quality sounds from the Nord Sample Library, including exclusively licensed sounds from the legendary Mellotron and Chamberlin, as well as a selection of samples from ProjectSAM's Symphobia and Swing! libraries. All sounds can be quickly exchanged using the Nord Sound Manager. The sample synth section offers two fully featured and independent layers and is equipped with intuitive controls for attack, decay/release and dynamic velocity. The new Soft and Bright Timbre settings offer a quick way to shape the sound.
I wanted a portable hammer action keyboard and most 88 key boards were too heavy for me to conveniently transport, which is why I looked towards 73 key boards. I had a CP73 previously but its key action caused strain on the tendons of my hands for some reason. The Nord on the other hand is a board that I can play for hours without strain and the acoustic piano samples are also much more detailed. The only downside of the Nord is its relatively high price, but it's worth it as you are paying for the high quality in my opinion. The empty space on the top board is a plus as well, as you can place effects pedals or mixers there.
