The Chase Bliss Audio Dark World is not only Joel Korte's first all-digital effects pedal, but also his first collaboration pedal with the legendary Cooper FX and Keeley Electronics. This high quality dual-channel reverb is partly inspired by legendary 16-bit era video games and aims to bring that lo-fi charm to your board. The Dark World has 2x sides to it, aptly named Dark and World. Dark was designed by Cooper FX to follow on from where their Generation Loss pedal started. Modes include Shim for a classic shimmer sound, Mod for a gritty VHS tape flavour and Black mode for infinite velocity-controlled sustain. Robert Keeley’s World section is the more traditional and friendly side. The modes on this side are split into Hall, Plate and Spring. Not only is the pedal dual-channel but you can also choose which side feeds into the other in series or parallel. Even more control is available with the expression/ramp parameter dip switches on the top of the chasse. Just like the games that inspired it this pedal offers up a virtual world to explore.
The main features of the Chase Bliss Audio Dark World include:
Digital Dual Reverb Effect Pedal for Electric Guitar
One of the more expensive things i've bought. But I immediately fell in love with the mix of Cooper Fx's dark side, the beautiful reverbs and the ability to route mod or expression. It's a rarity that I hear something as unique as this and it's had me procrastinating over mixing and insted starting new projects; running cello, vocals, gat, and glockenspiel through it for the last couple of days. One of my favourite things.
This pedal delivers both classic reverb tones on its world side and also really unique and mesmerising sounds on the dark side. It can do traditional spring reverb to out-there ambient and everything in between. It is also super tweak-able and full of features. Chase Bliss Audio seem to be doing some really cool things and I am very happy with this pedal!
Beautiful pedal - although mono, still delivers huge soundscapes ranging from muted intimate to huge and dark. Totally recommended, although not very cheap.
