The Behringer MS-1 MkII GY in detail:
The MS-1 MkII from Behringer is a clone of the famous Roland SH-101, which shines with a few sophisticated extras compared to the original. It has remained true to the monophonic original from 1983 throughout and has even reissued the well-known Curtis IC CEM3340 in order to reproduce the distinctive VCO sound exactly. The audio mixer with six inputs including Ext Audio, the massive 24dB lowpass filter, the switchable VCA and the snappy ADSR with its unmistakable smack; everything is as you know and love it! The MkII version is equipped with a faithful reproduction of the legendary BA662 OTA chip. This has given the MS-1 MkII an even more authentic sound that is in no way inferior to the original sound. The powerful bass sounds of the 101 in particular have shaped electronic music for decades. This is due to the sum of all the components of this synthesizer, but above all to a decisive extent to the creaky sound of the sawtooth waveform and the extremely lively PWM sounds of the square waveform.
40 years later...
The enhancements are to be found in details that will delight even purists: The tempo for Arpeggiator and sequencer now has its own controller and is therefore no longer dependent on the LFO tempo; it goes without saying that the two playing aids can also be synchronized to MIDI. The controls for Arpeggiator and the sequencer have also been extended, which simplifies operation and gives you access to 64 patterns. The filter benefits from a special modification: six oscillator taps including Noise are available to additionally modulate the Cutoff continuously (Filter FM). Of course, the MS-1 MkII offers modern interfaces such as MIDI and USB on both the input and output sides. The CV/gate inputs and outputs have been retained, so the retro classic remains open for connection to a modular system.
