Befaco's Pony VCO 1U is an analog oscillator with high sonic flexibility and assertive sound in 1U format. The module generates the waveforms sine, triangle and sawtooth, which can be heavily modified with a wavefolder. The fourth waveform is square, which is modulable in pulse width. The output of the oscillator is equipped with its own VCA, which eliminates the need for an additional VCA to modulate the intensity respectively the level, depending on the application. For the frequency control there is a mode switch that toggles the operating range of the control and even includes an LFO mode. In addition, the fundamental frequency is selectable over seven octaves. This combination allows fast and precise tuning of two Pony VCOs. For frequency modulation, the Pony VCO 1U has a hardsync input and a Thru-Zero FM input. The 1U version is significantly wider due to the form factor, but the printed information is even easier to read and the overall ergonomics succumbs to the charm of a late-70s synth dinosaur.
