Befaco Oneiroi Synthvoice at a glance
Oneiori - comes from Greek mythology and means "the embodiment of dreams". This is exactly what Befaco's experimental synth voice with a focus on ambient sounds and drone-like sound constructs sounds like.
The module combines a sine/super-saw/wavetable oscillator, 5-second looper, multimode filter, resonator, echo, reverb, an internal modulator and randomizer as well as a complete stereo signal path in an unfamiliar way. The module is recommended as a creative epicentre for unusual sounds.
The left side of the module consists of the oscillator section and the looper. The oscillator uses various tuning options such as eg. Unisono and simultaneously generates sine, SuperSaw (the famous, ultra-fat waveform from the Roland JP-8000) and wavetable. The latter offers 32 waveforms and shares the memory with the looper, so only Wavetables or the Looper can be used. The latter has a recording time of 5 seconds and can record either the audio input or the stereo output signal. The short recording time is to be considered in the context of creative sound creation with the downstream possibilities and less as a pure sampler/looper. :-) On the right-hand side of Oneiori is a resonant multimode filter with lowpass, bandpass, Highpass and comb filter characteristics. This is followed by a 3-band resonator, which makes an enormous contribution to the overall sound of the module. The effects echo with two tap taps and a very good-sounding ambience reverb round off the module.
Most parameters can be modulated via control voltage, and there is also an internal modulator that functions as an LFO with standard waveforms, Sample & Hold or envelope follower and can be assigned to any parameter. Thanks to the controller pickup for recoupling the parameter positions, parameter jumps are avoided. The randomizer is a real hit, which can be applied to all sections simultaneously, oscillator, Looper or effects in three intensity levels. Undo/redo has even been thought of to bring back the better setting from before.
