The highest expansion level of Pro Tools

The Avid Pro Tools HDX system, consisting of an HDX PCIe card and Pro Tools Ultimate perpetual license, is the largest hardware and software expansion level of Pro Tools that Avid offers. It combines advanced signal processors with the flagship DAW Pro Tools Ultimate. On the HDX card, DSP-controlled plug-ins can be calculated in AAX DSP format and the entire system boasts an extremely low roundtrip latency of 0.7ms. There are 2 Digilink connectors per HDX card, so 64 I/O channels can be used. If more channels are needed, e.g. for large recording consoles, the system can be expanded to up to 3 cards, allowing 192 I/O channels and 768 tracks to be used simultaneously.

Pro Tools software now without dongle constraints

Since Pro Tools version 2018, Pro Tools can also be opened via the iLok Cloud instead of the physical iLok dongle (requires a working internet connection). For multiple licenses, this makes it convenient to use multiple licenses at the same time via the cloud without needing a separate iLok for each device. For offline operation, however, you still need an iLok (available separately).

Work on the same project in a team

Cloud collaboration allows multiple users to work on a project simultaneously in real time. Avid operates its own servers for this purpose and provides each user with 1GB of free cloud storage right from the start. All that is required is an Internet connection.

Apple Silicon M1 support

Since version 2021.6, software, included Avid plugins, and Avid Control Surfaces are also compatible with macOS 11.4 (and higher) on M1 Macs via Rosetta 2.
