The OC818
The microphones offer switchable polar patterns, including omnidirectional, cardioid, super cardioid and figure-of-eight. With 255 discrete intermediate stages that can be controlled by software, the characteristics can be precisely adapted to the recording environment. This can be done either via the PolarDesigner plugin for Windows and Mac or with the help of the optional OCR8 Bluetooth dongle, which, in conjunction with the PolarPilot app, allows flexible control of the microphones in real-time.
A wide frequency range from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, a sensitivity of 13 mV/Pa and an output impedance of 275 ohms underline the precision and fidelity of the OC818. The inherent noise is minimal at just 9 dB SPL(A), while the signal-to-noise ratio is over 84 dB, enabling noise-free and clear recordings. With low cut filters at 40 Hz, 80 Hz and 160 Hz as well as switchable pad functions of -10 dB and -20 dB, the microphones can be used flexibly, even at high sound pressure levels of up to 158 dB (with pad).
The microphones are powered by 48 V phantom power, which is provided by the mixer or audio interface via the XLR cable. They consume less than 4 mA, which makes them suitable for use in a wide range of professional audio setups.
The Set also includes a comprehensive range of accessories, including the OCH8 Mic Clips, which provide a secure hold for the microphones, two OCC8 mini XLR cables for connecting the outputs and two OCW8 windscreens, which minimize unwanted noise from wind or breathing. All the accessories are housed in a robust soft case, which simplifies the transportation and storage of the microphones and protects them from damage.
