The Alesis MultiMix 4 USB Mixer is a four-channel desktop mixer with a USB digital audio interface built in. This compact mixer is perfect for using in basic computer-recording setups, video editing and production studios, and portable podcasting setups because it outputs not only line-level analog audio, but also stereo 16-bit, 44.1 kHz digital audio over USB for low-noise, easy computer connection.
The MultiMix 4 USB mixer has four input channels, all of which can accept a 1/4" line input. You can can plug XLR microphones into channels one and two, including condensers thanks to the mixer's switchable 48V-phantom power supply. You can also plug a guitar or bass directly into channel one's switchable high-impedance input.
Channels one and two offer switchable high-pass filtering at 75Hz to eliminate low-frequency rumble, handling and wind noise. Each channel has an independent pan control and channels one and two provide high and low-shelving EQs. Channels one and two have independent gain trims, while channels three and four are configured as a stereo pair at the level and pan controls.
The Alesis MultiMix 4 USB has a two channel, five stage, multicolor LED meter for visual monitoring the main output level. A stereo, 1/4" headphone output has its own level control.

I bought this one for quick mixing a couple of lines, and occasionally preamp a mike or two. Never used the USB feature. As long as I can tell, it does the job honestly, and even sounds a tad better than its Behringer counterpart.
However there's been an issue that made it end up in the trash: a jack plug broke off inside one of the mixer's sockets. Not at all Alesis fault, but rather the jack manufacturer's. However, because Alesis used special-type screws on the back (where you doen't see them on the photos), I couldn't easily open it to retrieve the pieces of that jack that prevented me from inserting any other plug into the socket. What a bummer !
This mixer is really worth it for the price you pay. It has all the basic features you need to convert your computers digital signal to analog vice versa with xlr ins and phantom power for your mics. The high pass filter and the guitar in button are also a plus point for increasing the inputs sensivity.
Nice product to a begginer / semi professional use. Nice quality-price relation and good to home studio recording uses.It works pretty good for this purpose. The mic pre-amps do have a small amount of hiss in them, but its only noticeable with the gains wide open.
I use it with a small laptop and I like the fact that there are no driver disks needed. In Windows XP, the USB drivers automatically install.
Great Value for the price!
