AKG D7 S Reference dynamic vocal microphone with on/off switch
Dynamic vocal microphone, supercardioid
The AKG D7 S is a Dynamic Supercardioid Vocal Microphone with switch (70-20,000 Hz). This dynamic microphone delivers high end performance and noble sound in every studio and on every stage. Powerful sound for professionals and demanding lead vocals. The D7 reference dynamic vocal microphone creates the subtle and open sound of a condenser capsule with the powerful resonance of a dynamic microphone. The patented dual-layer Varimotion diaphragm can vibrate unhindered, which results in an extraordinarily crisp and clean sound. The unique laminated material damps high resonance peaks in the frequency response, which in combination with the tight, supercardioid polar pattern enables the D7's outstanding high gain before feedback. Its mechano-pneumatic capsule suspension and an integrated high-pass filter effectively eliminate handling noise. A precision metal dust filter provides a consistent protection for the diaphragm, ensuring an extra-long life.

For some singers this is better than the SM58, but it depends on the singer. Use mainly on 'loud without mic' female vocals as seems to tolerate them better and let them have better position control, where in some instances would be too far away for 58. This could also be do with having a higher GBF than 58 in most cases in exact same position.
